Proteros obtains CIR accreditation that allows eligible clients to receive 30% of their R&D costs in tax credits
Martinsried February 24, 2012. Proteros biostructures GmbH (“Proteros”) a leading provider of structure-based drug discovery services announced today that it has been awarded CIR accreditation by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research. The accreditation allows eligible French companies to benefit from significant tax relief (Crédit d’Impôt sur la Recherche) on research carried out by Proteros on their behalf until 2013.

The company accelerates and improves protein structure analysis and structure-based drug discovery with its expertise, industrialized processes and unique technologies for crystallography and fragment-based lead generation. Proteros complements its clients’ internal capabilities with external expertise and access to flexible resources. Proteros currently provides services for more than 60 pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients in North America, Europe and Asia.
With a number of Xtal Focus Systems now installed in Germany, it is not surprising that UBIFrance, the French agency for international business developement in Germany, was curious to find out more about the system and the company.
Xtal Focus is, as UBIFrance puts it, « a simplified process for protein crystallization. » It’s success is due to the modularity of the system and the ability to be customized to suit each laboratory’s needs.
Two additional systems are in the process of being installed in Germany each with the capability of imaging 200 plates per day and each storing in excess of 500 SBS Microplates. These installations also take the Protein Crystallization experiment a step further, the system is fully automated to assist in the design of the experiments, monitor the location of the plates in the laboratory, control ingredients levels and create worklists for dropsetters/liquid handlers as well as other processes in the Laboratory.

RAMC is a meeting which aims to identify the latest developments in protein crystallization and provide practical insights to improve methodologies. During the meeting there were lectures, poster sessions, discussion groups, commercial exhibitions and plenty of time for informal interaction.
A successful meeting was had and a special thank you to those that made it happen and to CNRS – Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (Strasbourg) for allowing us to demonstrate using their Xtal Focus system.

The 13th International Conference on the Crystallization of Biological Macromolecules (ICCBM13) was held on the campus of Trinity College Dublin (TCD), Ireland from the 12th to the 16th September 2010. ICCBM13 focused on challenging systems to include macromolecular complexes and membrane proteins with an emphasis on novel practical as well as mechanistic aspects of crystallogenesis. Many of the leaders in the field shared their knowledge.
The conference catered to the needs of the individual wanting to learn how to grow crystals or to acquire new crystallization skills, the Conference was preceded by a Workshop devoted to hands-on instruction on select aspects of macromolecule production and crystal growth.

Biotechnica 2009 was held in the lovely town of Hannover, Germany. Explora Nova was present to meet and greet and show our latest in Imaging Analysis and Automation.
