Images and results produced in various applications with Mercator
Mercator is a comprehensive software package for quantification of histological sections.
Mercator enables exhaustive exploration of large histological preparations. After having defined the outlines of regions of interest at low magnification, the user can quantify the cells at high magnification by using the previously drawn regions. Each cell is then measured to assess morphologic, colorimetric and densitometric criteria, depending on the regional context. In addition to real-time localization of the field of view, Mercator also eliminates the risk of double counting, and can generate high-resolution maps.
Mercator’s principal functions are as follows:
- Permanent storage of microscope configurations.
- Continuous color (or B/W) image acquisition.
- Management and analysis of regions of interest (anatomical regions are named by the user) at low magnification.
- Management and analysis of defined objects at high magnification, classified by region.
- Various annotations can be made i.e. pointers, polygons, rectangles, circles, lines, and so forth.
- Statistical analysis can be performed by sampling zone.
- Stereological tools (1st & 2nd Order as well as One Stop Stereology).
- Automated exploration with with the use of a motorized stage (allowing field-by-field detection and segmentation).
- Saving, recall and registration of a histological preparation map and parameters.
- Results editing in MS Excel compatible spreadsheets.
- Color map printing.
- Cavalieri representation of the maps of serial sections.
- 3D visualization.
- All map data can be exported to general purpose software such as MS Office for direct editing.
- WACOM type tablets are compatible with the software.
- Compatible with a large range of microscopes and cameras and the latest Slide Scanners.
Additional modules to compliment the Mercator application may include:
